THE FAQs:

What's the difference between Meyer and Simpson Library?
  • Meyer Library on the Oakland campus is the original library of the college, founded in 1907. Its collections focus on the fine arts and the general undergraduate course of study.
  • Simpson Library on the San Francisco campus was established in 1986 to support the architecture and design programs, and also has resources for fine arts, film, and writing.

How do I get a book from the other campus?

If you cannot get to the other campus, you may request up to three books per day via the circulation desk. If you need help determining the specific item to request, ask a reference librarian for advice. Delivery takes 24-72 hours. Reference books and periodicals are not usually available via this service.

Where do I return items?

Materials may be returned to either library. In San Francisco, return items to the circulation attendant at the desk next to the front door. If the library is closed there is a return box outside the front door of the library. In Oakland, place items in the circulation box slot at the front circulation desk. When the library is closed there is a return slot between the front doors of Meyer Library.
